With the Apostolic Letter “Patris corde” (“With a Father’s Heart”), Pope Francis recalls the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. To mark the occasion, the Holy Father has proclaimed a “Year of Saint Joseph” from December 8, 2020, to December 8, 2021. Look for future Flocknotes and bulletin announcements on how Sacred Heart plans to commemorate this event.
This Sunday, December 13, is Gaudete Sunday, we will have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel. There are still several time slots not filled, please prayerfully consider spending time in Adoration to spiritually prepare yourself for our Savior’s birth and sign up for a specific time slot or just stop by. Confessions will be heard from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. during Adoration.
I am also hearing Confessions on Wednesday and Thursday evenings in the Chapel from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., as well as on Saturday afternoons in the Church from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. This is another opportunity to prepare yourself for the birth of our Lord.
On a last note, I have had several people ask about the 2021 calendars. In checking with the printing company, we have found that due to COVID restrictions the printing of the calendars has been delayed. However, we have been assured that the 2021 calendars will be here before the end of the month.
Let us continue to pray for those affected by the coronavirus and for health care workers and first-responders.
God Bless,
Father Potts
