Pope Francis Proclaims a Year Dedicated to St. Joseph!
On the 150th Anniversary of the Proclamation of
St. Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church
Pope Francis has written a new Apostolic Letter entitled,
Patris corde (“With a Father’s Heart”) and proclaimed a year dedicated to St. Joseph. Pope Francis describes St. Joseph in part as a beloved father, a tender and loving father, a working father, and a father in the shadows. Pope Francis writes, “our lives are woven together and sustained by ordinary people, people often overlooked. How many are praying, looking ahead and encouraging the practice of prayer. How many are praying, making sacrifices and interceding for the good of all.”
In this coming year, we will find ways as a parish and as individuals to discover in St. Joseph “a support and guide in times of trouble.” Pope Francis reminds us that those who “appear hidden or in the shadows can play an incomparable role in the history of salvation. A word of recognition and of gratitude is due them all.” To join in the planning, email Diane at: dmoriarty@stmaryuxbridge.org
