Dear Friend,
What a week we had! What lies ahead!
From the presidential inauguration to the announcement of the Renew My Church decision (see below), we are looking at a period of great change. While our status as an independent parish and school remains unchanged, there is a wonderful new opportunity for us to explore in our "covenantal relationship" with Saint Benedict parish.
We have noted in the past how fruitful collaborations have been between these parishes, from our combined Parish Missions to mutual Youth Ministry and Young Adult meetings. But a covenant is something different - in the bible, it is an invitation to enter into a special relationship initiated by God, one that persists through good and bad times. We also find the language of a covenant in the sacrament of marriage, in mutual love, kindness, and service.
We are excited to deepen our roles of evangelization, celebration, and healing with Saint Benedict. We also ask God's loving compassion to be with the parishioners of Our Lady and Lourdes and Saint Mary of the Lake, as they enter into the process of combining as one parish.
