Important Announcements:
Leadership Affirmation:
As you all may know, our new City of the Lord Governing Statutes were approved by Bishop Olmsted and went into effect on January 1, 2021. During the last two years, we have been in a "Provisional Governance" period while we finalized and "lived" these statutes. The Provisional period has now ended.
l will be asking all Arizona Branch Covenant Members to vote to affirm the nominees for Senior Coordinator (SC) and Presiding Senior Woman Leader for a new four year period of service, as well as to affirm the three current coordinators and two remaining Senior Women Leaders (SWL) for this same period of service. Doris Martinez will be stepping down as a SWL and also as Presiding SWL effective January 31, 2021. We will be announcing the nominees for the SC and Presiding SWL positions at the January 17 GCG, after the Branch Senior Leadership Team meets and votes this Monday night for these nominees.
The Coordinators and SWL who are currently in training are being advanced to "Provisional Coordinator" and "Provisional SWL" status for 2021 for final discernment and training, and will become full Coordinators and full SWL if they are affirmed by the Covenant Members in January 2022
Affirmation forms will be available at the back table at the January 17 GCG and those Covenant Members that do not attend will have the form mailed to them on Monday, January 18. Affirmation forms are due back in the pre-addressed envelope by the January 31st gathering.- Jeff
Convocation Update:
We will be having Convocation on February 12 and 13th! Fr Dave Pivonka will be in Tempe for Mass and Talks to our Community! This year due to concerns over travel and housing expressed by members of our California Branches (as well as AZ Branch members), Most of the Convocation will be a virtual format online. We are working on the technology to provide the best experience possible for those that will not be attending in person, as well as a few surprises for everyone!
Families with Children: We will be providing Childcare so that parents may attend the Masses and the Talks/ Prayer Meeting. Since Fr Dave will be here in person in Tempe, some aspects of the Convocation will happen live at the Community center. The event will be Friday evening and all day Saturday. No Sunday events are planned for this year.
More details will be provided and registration will open at the January 17, GCG!- Thanks for your patience as we discern the best format for Convocation 2021- Jeff
