Good afternoon,
I think this is my first flocknote message of the new year, so for anyone I didn't say to in person or by some other means, I hope you had a merry and blessed Christmas, and that this entire year is blessed for you as well.
I'd like to share a video with you that we used in our high school religious education class last night. The program we're using for class this year is called Decision Point and it is from Dynamic Catholic/Matthew Kelly, and the topic of last night's session was the Eucharist. The entire program is available online for free in case you're interested in watching any of the other sessions.
The story he uses in this nine minute video is from 2014, but is amazingly similar to what we are all experiencing today with Covid.
I'm sharing this video with you not to judge or make anyone feel guilty, but to give a reminder of one of the reasons we come to Mass every Sunday...or should come to Mass every Sunday.
Now I know for health/safety reasons there are many who are not coming to Mass, and that is perfectly understandable and appropriate. I know many of you long to participate in Mass with us, to receive Christ in the Eucharist, and my heart goes out to you. I pray that day we can all safely worship together in person comes soon.
For those who aren't coming to Mass now and it's not due to safety reasons...for those who prior to Covid were seldom or only occasionally participating in Mass, I pray this video speaks to your heart and causes a change.
In one of the other videos/sections we watched last night, Matthew asked a question of the viewers that I pose to you. How are you feeding your soul?
Don't let the changes we're all experiencing in our lives during these Covid times be a reason that are souls are not fed.
How are you feeding your soul?
