The first Men’s Ministry activity of 2021 is a Zoom presentation on Thursday, January 28, 7:00–8:00 PM.
Parishioner Walter Glover will speak about his adventures climbing Mount Aconcaqua in Argentina, the highest mountain in South America, with a peak of over 22,000 vertical feet, and the highest mountain in the world outside of the Himalayan range in Nepal. He also will talk about his negative/positive experience on Mount Ranier.
The event will be in an interview/conversation format with parishioner, good friend and Men’s Ministry veteran Greg Scherschel serving as host and interviewer. It is very likely that a fellow climber of Mount Aconcaqua will be among those watching on Zoom and may have some comments to share. You are certain to learn a great deal about the joys and ordeals of mountain climbing. In addition, what Walter has to say will expand your minds as to how the Holy Spirit is alive and at work in each of us, sometimes in ways we don’t initially recognize.
Interesting fact (maybe just a legend) On Friday, January 20, 2012, Walter Glover stood 21,063 feet high above sea level. At age 63, he claims that on that particular day he was the oldest man at the highest elevation anywhere in the world.
Walter’s latest book titled MOUNT ACONCAGUA AND MOUNT RAINIER – Seven Mountain Story, Book III, is available for purchase in Columbus at Viewpoint Books and The Ark. His earlier two books are also available at those two locations.
