The reconciliation schedule will remain the same during the closure. Sunday obligation to attend Mass and Holy Days continues to be suspended. In-person gatherings on parish campuses are allowed only for programs of sacramental preparation. This permission for in-person catechetical gatherings does not include adult bible studies, conferences, or special presentations.

Mary Bloom is joining the parish Sacramental Records team. Mary has been attending St. Theresa since 2014 and enjoys being a part of the parish and now a permanent resident in the local Houston community.  Mary has a civil engineering/architecture education with degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from Harvard and spent her corporate career primarily in the energy industry.  She is excited about the opportunity to support the parish with our sacramental record keeping and document requests. Join us on Wednesday, February 3 for the 7:00 a.m. Mass.
Each year, on February 3, the Church celebrates the feast day of St. Blase, bishop and martyr.  St. Blase was a 4th-century Armenian bishop who was beheaded for his faith.  One story told of him is that of curing a young boy who had a fishbone caught in his throat. St. Blase’s memory was held dear among German and Czech Catholics who brought the blessing of throats to their parishes in the U.S.  Traditionally, the annual blessing of the throats is offered using two crossed candles placed against each throat.  This year, due to COVID-19, the blessing will be adapted for safety.  Father will simply pray the blessing over all present for the 7:00 a.m. Mass.  The blessing of the throats asks God’s protection from “ailments of the throats and every other illness.”  Taking place in February, in the midst of Houston’s mild winter, we do ask God’s protection against the common cold, the flu, pneumonia, and this year particularly, COVID-19. 

More than what one sees on a Sunday, deacons are involved in all kinds of ministry including hospital, prison, airport and seaport chaplaincies, justice and peace advocacy, and a variety of social and formation ministries.

If you are a man between the ages of 32 and 52 and have ever thought about being a deacon, how about spending an hour with Deacon Larry at a Zoom meeting on Wednesday, January 27 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. You do not have to be ready to make that decision. Vocations often unfold over a number of years. This is simply an informational setting.
