A few items of particular importance to our parishioners.
Perpetual Adoration. Our Lady of Fatima is one of only eighteen parishes in Colorado with a Perpetual Adoration Chapel. We need your help to keep it perpetual. Please consider signing up for a regular slot or as a substitute adorer through Pentecost 2018. We can’t do it without you. To become a scheduled or substitute Adorer or if you would like more information about Adoration, please take a look at the Perpetual Adoration Chapel webpage at
www.FatimaLakewood.com/Adoration. In addition to a couple of overnight slots, we need coverage for 1 pm on Thursday - signup at
Adoration Signup.
For inspiration, look at this month’s Eucharistic miracle: Eucharistic Miracle of Fiecht Austria, 1310: The little village of St. Georgenberg-Fiecht in the Inn Valley is very well known because of a Eucharistic miracle that took place there in 1310. During the Mass, the priest was seized with temptations regarding the Real Presence of Jesus in the consecrated Elements. Right after the consecration, the wine changed into Blood and began to boil and overflow the chalice. In 1480, after 170 years, the Sacred Blood was "still fresh as though coming out of a wound," wrote the chronicler of those days. The Precious Blood is preserved intact to this day and is contained in
Sundancer Gala. This year’s Sundancer Gala will be on Saturday, October 21 at Pinehurst Country Club. Please plan on attending. See below for more details,
OLF Dinner Club. The fourth season of the OLF Dinner Club begins in September. We meet in groups of 10 at various parishioners houses every other month until May. It is a great way to break bread with fellow parishioners and get to know each other better. Click here for some more information:

Members of a welcoming and evangelizing community take seriously their call to share the Divine message of salvation. It happens in parish families, in the workplace, in gatherings with friends and neighbors, and in daily contact. Give thanks to God as He continuously strengthens each of us who seek to do his will in offering a gentle, humble, and clear welcome to the Catholic faith. “Go out into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)

A Family of Faith
As most of you are aware, there have been many changes in sacrament preparation as parishes in the Archdiocese of Denver implement the Restored Order of the Sacraments of Initiation. This has given us an opportunity to reflect on religious education in our parish. We are very excited to begin this new program open to all our parish families whether children attend public schools, parochial schools, or are schooled at home.
A Family of Faith is designed to be used with grade school children, and intimately involves parents in their religious education; precisely as the church teaches. As the first teachers of your children, we recognize that your personal faith formation serves as a powerful witness about the importance of ongoing growth in the knowledge and love of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, and his Church. You will not be doing this alone or without some guidance since a feature of this program includes a parent guide and instruction. This will truly be a parish family endeavor.
To learn more about A Family of Faith, plan to attend one of the informational meetings on Sunday, August 13 or Sunday, August 20 at 1:00 pm in the Parish Hall. Registration materials will be available at the meeting.
Sacrament Preparation
If you have a child in grades 2, 3, or 4, you should plan to attend one of the parent meetings on sacrament preparation for First Reconciliation (2nd grade), Confirmation (3rd and 4th grade), and First Eucharist (3rd grade). These meetings will take place at 7:00 pm in the Parish Hall on August 14, 16, and 18. The meeting is for parents only. If you have more than one child preparing for sacraments this year, please select the night corresponding to the grade of your youngest child.
Catholic Conversations
Catholic Conversations will be available on August 20 this month. Marcus Ritosa will be outside the church to help answer any and all questions you might have about Jesus Christ, the Catholic faith, or the intersections of faith and life. This month's challenge question: August 20 - What makes something sinful?
Our Lady of Fatima School
It's not too late to register. Please call for a tour. School starts on August 21.
Men of Fatima
We are looking to communicate better with the men of our parish. Men, please add yourselves to the Men of Our Lady of Fatima FlockNote group by clicking here
FatimaMen. We will send you periodic information on things of interest to the men of the parish.
The Band of Brothers will have its annual men’s weekend retreat in late October/early November. All men of the parish are welcome. More details and the specific dates will be forthcoming. You can also add yourself to the Band of Brothers men's group FlockNote group by clicking here:
Band of Brothers. All men are welcome.
Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus council 9597 is back with their award-winning "Peaches For Seminarians" sales. Delicious Palisade peaches can be ordered after all Masses starting on July 8th through August 6th. Delivery of ordered peaches is scheduled for August 19th from 8 am until noon. The Knights accept cash, check and credit cards. Orders can also be dropped off at the parish office with checks. If you just want to make a donation for support of our seminarians, the knights will gladly accept those too! Through your generous support, OLF supported 16 young men in their vocational studies last year. We thank you.
The Knights are always looking for quality men who wish to be better fathers, husbands, and Catholics to join our family-oriented council. Consider coming to a social meeting on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 7 pm, or talk to a Knight at the prayer program, the pancake breakfast, or join the Knights' FlockNote group at
Knights. They can also be reached at
KofC9597@gmail.com or 1-844-COKofC.
