A leper came to Jesus and kneeling down begged him and said, "If you wish, you can make me clean." Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand, touched him, and said to him, "I do will it. Be made clean." The leprosy left him immediately, and he was made clean. Then, warning him sternly, he dismissed him at once.
He said to him, "See that you tell no one anything, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them."
The man went away and began to publicize the whole matter. He spread the report abroad so that it was impossible for Jesus to enter a town openly. He remained outside in deserted places, and people kept coming to him from everywhere.

Lent begins Ash Wednesday, February 17
Join us for 8:00 am Mass,
12:00 Noon Prayer Service or
5:30 pm Mass.
Ashes will be distributed according to Archdiocesan directives and with masks and social distancing. Following the homily, there will be some changes to the distribution of ashes. The priest or deacon will say the customary, “Turn away from sin and believe the gospel.” He will say this only once, for the entire congregation – instead of over each person.

Have you considered making Your IRA Required Minimum Distribution to St. Maximilian Kolbe Church?
If you are over the age of 70½ and have a traditional IRA and / or a Roth IRA, your required minimum distribution can be directed to St. Maximilian Kolbe Church as a “qualifying charitable distribution”. The requirements include the following:
- The charitable distribution must be from a traditional IRA or a Roth IRA;
- The charitable distribution must be direct from the IRA trustee to St. Maximilian Kolbe Church; and
- The charitable distribution must be on or after you have reached the age of 70½. The maximum annual exclusion for qualified charitable distributions is $100,000. For those of you who are eligible to make a charitable qualifying distribution, please consider making a portion or all of your required minimum distribution to St. Maximilian Kolbe Church.

This year the entire Catholic Church is celebrating the Holy Year of St. Joseph. An effective way to place ourselves and our families under St. Joseph’s strong protection is to make a consecration to him. The Marians of the Immaculate Conception are leading an online worldwide consecration to St. Joseph starting on February 15 and ending on the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary on March 19, 2021. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia invites all of her clergy and faithful to participate!

Nourish for Caregivers Support Groups
In a recent Sunday Gospel Jesus reminds us that he desires mercy, not sacrifice. Mt 9:13 For caregivers, life is often all about sacrifice. Whether it is putting their own needs aside until the end of the day or forgoing self-care altogether, exhaustion and frustration can be ever present companions. We focus on caring for the caregiver because this role is not just about sacrifice, but also availing one's self to the loving embrace from our merciful Jesus and his most Blessed Mother. The ministry meets in-person at a variety of times and locations throughout the Archdiocese as well as virtually via Zoom.

Either way, we want to bring this great day to you to help all of us focus on our faith and reliance on Our Lord.

Young Adult Retreat

Young adults (20s & 30s) are invited to Malvern Retreat House for a weekend of spiritual renewal and fellowship in Christ in order to “discern the will of God, what is holy and pleasing and perfect (Rom 12:2).” The retreat will include Eucharistic Adoration, Holy Mass, novena prayers to St. Joseph, a Reconciliation Service, music by Bailey Savoy and the Sisters of Life, and time for spiritual direction, personal prayer, and recreation with other young adults from across the diocese.
Retreat Director: Fr. Timothy Danaher is a Dominican priest at St. Patrick’s Church in Philadelphia.

Holy Hours with the Good Shepherd
Need some encouragement? Join us for a holy hour with fellow priests, religious and lay faithful as we seek strength and hope from Jesus, our Good Shepherd, the saints and one another during these difficult times in the world and the Church. The Holy Hour includes Rosary, Litany and Benediction. Afterwards join us for a short talk on a saint, exploring how he or she remained faithful to Christ and His Church during the trials of his or her time. Meets quarterly on Sundays, 2-4 PM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Drexel Hill, PA.
