Reflection
“Brothers and sisters, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31) Do a quick check of your priorities. Where does God rank in that list? If He’s not first, you have some work to do. Putting God first in everything helps us from putting other “gods” (like our pride, ego, money and possessions) before God. Before making a decision, ask yourself, “Am I doing this for the glory of God or for the glory of me?”
Lent begins this Wednesday with Ash Wednesday and is a time to walk with Christ in his passion, preparing to renew our baptismal vows and be united with him in his death and resurrection at Easter. It is a time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. It is a time to simplify and sacrifice. As we observe the Church’s guidelines regarding fasting and abstinence, we also make our own commitments to prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as an individual and as a family.

Deacon Jose Carvajal
Profiles in Ministry" offers brief glimpses into the lives and faith of those in the St. Mary's Seminary community. In this video, we see a familiar face :) Deacon Jose Carvajal will be ordained a priest on May 15 and will be an associate pastor in the Diocese of Worcester.
Please help us support our retired priests this Ash Wednesday as a part of our new Collection for Priest Retirement. A recent review of the benefits and expenses of priest retirement for our diocesan priests recommended a number of changes in benefits for those priests who have not yet retired. Bishop McManus accepted those recommendations after receiving the input and agreement of the priests in our diocese. These changes are projected to save up to $12 million through the year 2050. Even with the change in benefits, however, annual deficits in funding for priest retirement as high as $374,000 are projected for another eleven years. Please consider a donation to this Ash Wednesday Collection as a way to express your appreciation of the dedicated service of our retired priests to the people of our diocese.
