Sanctuary HVAC & Renovations
Due to a delay in getting some parts, the long-awaited HVAC work for the sanctuary will likely begin in mid September.The sanctuary renovations, however, are scheduled to begin on Monday, 8/28. They will begin by refinishing pews and then move on to installing the new flooring and carpets. The project is scheduled to be completed on 9/8.
We will continue to communicate with you throughout the process so you know when the office and sanctuary will be accessible. Thank you!

We have already harvested over 700 lbs of fresh produce from our Ross gardens -- close to our season total last year and it's just barely mid-August!
- Please mark your calendars for future garden weeks for St. Mark's, each week beginning with these Saturdays and running through to the following Friday: Aug 19, Sept 9, Sept 30, Oct 21. Our church partners would welcome your help during their assigned weeks.
- Back to Nature has been a wonderful partner, so please stop in and make your garden purchases there.

Rummage Sale - Save the Dates! - 9/15 & 9/16
From now until September 16th, think Rummage and how you can give of your time and donations to make this important fund raiser for St. Mark’s a big success. Your involvement is invaluable. Start collecting your donations and remember to tell your family, friends and neighbors of the opportunity to donate to our sale.
Set Up: Saturday, September 9th, 9:30 am.
Pricing and Sorting: Sunday through Thursday.
Sale Dates: Friday, September 15th from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm and Saturday, September 16th from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.
Clean up: Saturday, September 16th at 2:30 pm.

"Alpha" Coming to Father Rick's "Forum" this Fall
Beginning on October 8th and running through mid-December, we will introduce Alpha during the Sunday Forum sessions.
Alpha is a series of discussions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over eleven weeks, including a weekend retreat. Each session looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha has been attended by millions in countries all around the world, and anyone is welcome.

Buildings & Ground Projects
One of this year’s goals of the Buildings and Grounds commissions is to complete many items on our “to do” list. If you have not seen it yet, there is a poster on the Parish Hall wall near the kitchen that lists all the items that we are trying to complete. To complete these items, we need your help.
- Each item has a rough estimate of what the cost would be to complete the item.
- Some items need to be done by a contractor, some can be done by a work party, and some can be done either way.
- Each item needs an owner to coordinate the parts of the item to completion. This could involve getting estimates from contractors and working with the contractor to complete the item. It could be getting the necessary materials to do the item and organizing a work party to complete the item.
What you can do:
- You can volunteer to fund part or all an item.
- You can volunteer to be the owner of an item to make sure it gets completed.
- You can volunteer to help the owner of the item.
So please look at the list and let me know if you can help any of the above ways.
*** For those of you who have a talent at making rooms look good how about Refreshing the 2 Parish Hall Bathrooms -Repair walls (spackle & sand), scrape radiator cover and prime, repaint or wallpaper walls. Possibly add a new soap dispenser, some paintings on the walls. Be creative!

Saturdays in Somerville
Looking for a rewarding community service project for you and your children? Come join us again to distribute food in Somerville for the Food Bank Network of Somerset County!
Each Saturday morning during September, Jackie Taylor heads up a small team of volunteers at the United Reformed Church, 100 West Main Street in Somerville to prep and hand out non perishables and fresh produce to local families in need who don't make it to the Food Bank during weekdays. This is a super opportunity for teen community service, and your kids are welcome to bring along friends to help out and make it fun!
