It’s hard to believe that Lent is starting tomorrow, February 17 - Ash Wednesday, a day of Fast and Abstinence. We will have our regular 6:30 and 8:00 a.m. Masses, as well as 4:30 and 7:00 p.m. Masses. All Masses will be celebrated in the Church. Ashes will be distributed during Mass. There will be a special collection on Ash Wednesday for the Church in the Developing World. All monies placed in the Poor Box on Ash Wednesday will be for this special collection.
Our Sacred Heart Lenten activities for 2021 include Stations of the Cross on Fridays at 7:00 p.m. in the Church; a Lenten Scripture Study on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. in Whitemarsh Hall; and additional times for confessions on Fridays after Stations of the Cross (in the Church) and on Thursdays from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the Chapel. These Lenten activities have been posted on our website and in the on-line bulletin.
In addition to our Lenten Activities, we have a couple of other choices for your use in your 2021 Lenten Journey. We have available Lenten Gospel Reflections books from Word on Fire Catholic Ministries. You can pick up a copy in the back of the Church or in the parish office. You may also want to receive a daily Lenten Reflection email from FORMED.org. You simply sign up at FORMED.org/Lent.
Once again, we will have the Gabriel Network baby bottle campaign in February. Baby bottles will be available after all Masses the weekend of February 20/21. Please return the baby bottles the following weekend, February 27/28. You may also contribute to the campaign at www.justgiving.com/campaign/sacredheart or by sending a check made payable to Gabriel Network and mailed to Gabriel Network, P.O. Box 2116, Bowie, Maryland 20718. Make sure to write “Sacred Heart BB Campaign” in the memo field on the check. The goal is to raise $10,000.00 to help serve the mothers and families who call Gabriel Network for help.
Peace,
Father Potts
