Dear Parishioners,
Lent Starts Tomorrow
Today has been busy for me. Let me just give you a few online resources for Lent.
Diocese of Trenton YouTube Channel
Daily Reflections
Many Catholic apostolates offer daily reflections. Here are a few:
The Search
In particular, I've been meaning to look more at The Search which was produced by Real Life Catholic and is available at Formed. Visit
Change in Collect
Starting tomorrow, the Collect (opening prayer) of the Mass will change with the removal of the word "one". To learn why, visit
here.
Advanced Medical Directive
I received a great question today. For the answer, visit
here. The New Jersey Catholic Conference offers this advanced medical directive to help us with difficult decisions when someone we love is dying. Basically, we want a real, live human being to make decisions for us if we cannot. And those decisions ought to follow Catholic teaching. That is, we are required to use reasonable means to save our life. If those means are or become exceptionally burdensome, then they are optional. The document explains it well.
Ash Wednesday
Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday. I still have to buy more Q-tips just in case we get more than 350 people tomorrow. It's going to be a great day for us to begin Lent, to renew our commitment to follow Jesus.
God love you,
Fr. Jim
