Good Evening, Eagle Nation!
Here are the THREE things you need to know from the desk of Mr. Berry.
1) Amazon Smile & Box Tops For Education
What's new: Did you know that if you buy Cheerios from Amazon, Our Lady of Peace can benefit twice from that single transaction?
Why it's important: This pandemic has dramatically shifted the way we shop for anything, ranging from groceries to patio furniture. If your house is anything like mine, a lot of your shopping has shifted to online, resulting in a surplus of Amazon boxes stuffing your recycle bin each week, and a surplus of e-receipts clogging your inbox each day. Thankfully, all of that clutter can also lead to something good. By taking advantage of AmazonSmile, Amazon will donate 0.5% of all eligible purchases to OLP. In addition, Box Tops for Education (yes, that program that used to make you cut the little logos off of the top of cereal boxes) now lets you simply forward your emailed receipts, making it easier than ever to earn $0.10 per eligible item, on thousands of products ranging from cereals to bottled water, to office supplies.
What's next: When shopping from Amazon, be sure to type smile.amazon.com into your browser, and then select Our Lady of Peace from the list of charities. To learn more about Box Tops for Education, and how you can simply forward your e-receipts, watch this video here. For additional questions on either of these programs, or how they work, please send questions to dmarrese@olpmn.com.
2) Spring Gala 2021 will feature Heather's & Honey & Rye
What's new: While this year's Annual Gala will once again be virtual, we are very excited to announce that guests will be treated to a spectacular dinner from Heather's Restaurant and dessert from Honey & Rye
Why it's important: Under normal circumstances, Eagle Nation would gather together for a night of dinner & dancing for our annual spring gala. While the pandemic continues to frown upon our ability to engage in these activities in-person, we are continuing to strive for ways in which we can deliver as much of a traditional gala-experience, in a pandemic-friendly fashion. We are excited to announce that dinner & dessert will be provided this year. You are also highly encouraged to dance along in your living room.
What's next: Save the date for this year's gala, Saturday, April 24th.
3) Hot Lunch Orders Due Monday!
What's new: Hot lunch orders for March 1st through March 12th are due on Monday (2/22).
Why it's important: If you would like to avoid packing lunches in the morning, or are simply trying to expand your student's palate, the OLP Hot Lunch Program is the perfect solution for you. Lunches can be ordered for the full two weeks, by individual day, or even simply ordering a carton of milk to accompany that PB&J from home. Please note, we will continue to order lunches in 2-week segments, as was started in November. As a reminder, this decision was made as a precaution to reduce the chance of families paying for lunches that could ultimately be missed due to unexpected pandemic-related campus closure.
