It is with a heavy heart that I must again share the news of the passing of one of our long-time parishioners, Jean McKim. Jean went home to the Lord yesterday afternoon, after a brief illness. In her passing we have lost a dear friend and a dedicated worker in the vineyard. Jean was a regular presence at our 4pm Saturday Mass and a daily communicant at morning Mass. She was also a regular attendee at parish funerals--performing the Corporal Work of Mercy to bury the dead--where she offered support to grieving families. She understood the need to continually grow in her faith, and actively participated in bible study, book club, and faith formation groups. She put her faith into action in ways too numerous to count over the many decades she called St. Charles her home. Most recently she was a money counter in the parish office, she led our Silverliners senior group, and headed our parish Sodality, where for many years she single-handedly planned and organized their annual Communion Breakfast. She helped stuff parish mailings, helped make community phone calls, help pack Christmas food baskets, etc., etc. If she was asked, her answer was YES, and most importantly, perhaps, her YES was always accompanied by a warm smile and a joyful spirit. May the angels welcome you into paradise, Jean. You have certainly been an angel to our church family!
Funeral arrangements are still pending and will be shared once finalized.
