Dear Walla Walla Catholic School families,

The season of Lent has begun! As we engage in this beautiful liturgical season of repentance through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, we also look forward with hope and joy to the celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord at Easter.

Over the weekend and throughout this week we have dealt with a severe winter storm. We are very appreciative of everyone's patience and cooperation through the various delays and schedule changes due to weather. We are especially grateful to our friends, families, and staff members who have assisted with snow removal from our parking lots and sidewalks. All of those combined efforts have made pick-up/drop-off for our families easy and safe. Thank you!

May Crowning

We invite you to join us this Friday, May 1, at 8:30 a.m., for the tradition of May Crowning in the Assumption parking lot.

We ask that you remain in your vehicles and tune into 90.7 to pray with us to honor Our Patroness, Mary, Assumed into Heaven.

Birthday Book Club

The Birthday Book Club is a long-standing program at Assumption. Being part of this club means that on a student's birthday they get to choose a brand new book, then a bookplate is placed in that book, and they get to be the first person to check-out the book. Once they are finished with the book, it gets added to our library collection. This is a fun way to celebrate students' birthdays, promote a love of reading, and to grow our school library for the benefit of all students!

If any parents (or grandparents, or friends) are interested in having their child participate in the Birthday Book Club, complete the form and submit it to the school office along with a donation of $15. To learn more about this program and to access a printable form, click the flyer!

Athletics Update Regarding Phase 2

Our region was notified on Sunday that we have been officially approved to enter Phase 2! This is awesome news for our fall sports teams, because it allows us to have fuller practices and to participate in competitions! However, fan attendance will be limited and all fans must follow COVID-19 protocols. More information about these protocols can be found in this note that was sent out last week. For those fans that cannot attend, we are working with our IT department to make our home games accessible to everyone through a live stream.

Currently, we have high school games scheduled for the remainder of the fall sports season. It is important to remember that some of these games could change due to inclement weather or due to fields being unavailable or inaccessible. Regarding Middle School Sports: Our middle school sports season has been particularly challenging because many schools in our league have decided not to offer middle school sports at all this year. This leaves us with very few teams left who can compete. We will distribute middle school schedules as soon as we can finalize games with those few schools that will actually have teams participating this season. So stay tuned for that update.

We are excited to offer an opportunity to pre-order, and pre-sell, some delicious fan favorites: Fazzari's Finest frozen pastas and meatballs! These pastas and meatballs are the same products you would find at Fazzari's Finest in Clarkston, but they can be heated and served right at home!

Novena Continues on Sunday

February 21, St. Patrick Church, 5:00 p.m.

Join our Tri-Parish community for a Novena in honor of the Year of the Eucharist! This Novena is being prayed not for nine consecutive days, but instead for nine consecutive Sundays. The Novena began on Sunday, January 31, and will continue until the final Sunday on March 28. We hope to see you there!
