Upon in person assessment and with consideration for spiritual needs as well as safety, Fr. Gomez is making the following changes for this weekend only (February 20th & 21st):
Saturday, February 20th
- Saturday Confessions (3-5 p.m.) and the 5 p.m. Vigil Mass are cancelled.
Sunday, February 21st
The schedule for Holy Mass will be as follows:
- 9:30 a.m. - English
- 11:00 a.m. - Spanish
- 1:00 p.m. - Latin
- 3:00 p.m. - English (added just for this day only)
Note: Fr. Gomez wishes to emphasize the need for safety. If you are concerned for safety, especially senior citizens and those with compromised health conditions, you are encouraged to stay at home.
Fr. Gomez and a helper have cleared the front porch and the entrance to the Church driveway off of FM 849. Members of the Hispanic community are there this afternoon with shovels to clear ice patches on the parking lot. May Our Lord richly bless them for their loving care of Holy Family!
Fr. Gomez thinks with the sunshine and warmer temperatures today and in the morning that the outside of the Church will be clear and safe, but he emphasizes that each parishioner should use his/her best judgment. He is hoping that offering a 3 p.m. Mass this Sunday afternoon will provide a extra opportunity to join in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass this weekend.
Based on the above, Fr. Gomez reports that the Bishop’s Appeal will be postponed until next weekend. He thanks you for your kind consideration.
Additionally, please pray for Fr. Lawrence Love, pastor of St. Peter the Apostle in Mineola. Fr. Love is experiencing great pain in his back, impeding even walking. Fr. Gomez is going to offer 12:30 p.m. Sunday Mass at St. Peter’s to assist Fr. Love and his parish. (Yes, that will make 4 Masses in one day for Fr. Gomez!).
Fr. Gomez sends his heartfelt thanks and blessings to parishioners of Holy Family for your kind consideration and prayers. God willing, we hope to return to some semblance of normalcy soon!
