Hello, friends,
I hope you are well on this wintery Monday. We are in the first week of Lent, on the journey, seeking encounter with Christ in the desert experiences of life. I don't know about you, but I would much rather encounter Christ in the dessert experiences of life!
Thankfully, the liturgical year includes celebrations of feasts in the life of the Church, as well as fasting and mourning. Sometimes the encounter is one of sitting at the tomb weeping. Other times it is the celebration of the joy of the resurrection and reunion with Christ. Each moment has the potential to deepen our encounter with Christ in faith and love.
To help us grow in understanding, I am hosting a Liturgy Spotlight series: two webinars on how the liturgy shapes our relationship with God. Our guests are Fr. David Friel (March 2), from the archdiocese of Philadelphia, and Drs. Larry and Carmina Chapp (March 23), from the Dorothy Day Worker Farm.
Please join us on March 2 and 23 at 7 P.M. via Zoom. This week, Fr. David Friel will discuss "Encountering God through the Sacred Liturgy". He will give a visual image to help understand what liturgy is, use a handful of saints to demonstrate how liturgy is meant to impact the daily life of all Catholics, and point out some practical ways of allowing our participation in the Mass to be a real encounter with Christ.
Tuesday, March 2, 7:00 P.M.
