Healthcare Conversation

I am so blessed to discuss the current pandemic and Care for the Sick with my favorite healthcare worker, my brother Adam. We discuss a wide range of healthcare topics including some of his experiences over the past year, how to take better care in the coming months, and what we can do to honor healthcare workers. He talks about the lost, grief, and frustration healthcare professionals have felt over the past year, but also the compassion and care we need to have for each other. Listen and learn.

Each week you will receive a thought provoking question that has to do with the themes for the month. This month, the themes are Care for the Sick, and the Catholic Social Teaching, Rights of the Worker.

Use your journal to privately respond to the question. You may also find it beneficial to have your journal handy for the Sunday Night lessons.

Here is your journal question for this week:

- Jesus was considered a prophet, a teacher, and healer as well as the son of God. What role would Jesus provide in our current healthcare system?

Mental Health

If you are struggling mentally, I encourage you to reach out to a licensed health professional to talk, seek advice, or any other help you might need. It is difficult for us to be united as a church if we do not feel whole inside. Partners in Change has set up a series of local doctors to speak once a month via Google Meet. The first speaker is Dr. Karen Stanley-Kime. She will speak on March 11th about Post Traumatic Growth. Flow the link below to register for free to the Partners in Change speakers.

We all approach our mental health differently. It is universally accepted, however, that we need some kind of outlet. My brother, a physician in New York, recently shared with me an app called Gris, which has helped him deal with the death, long hours, and stress he has experienced and witnessed in the past 10 months.
