Hi everyone,
As we rapidly approach Easter, RCIA is about to get busy! :)
I've been working on updating and coordinating the upcoming liturgical events that you'll need to attend before Easter.
First, please note we have an event THIS SUNDAY that EVERYONE (candidates AND catechumens + sponsors need to attend).
This will be the Rite of Welcoming at 5 p.m. mass THIS SUNDAY, February 28.
We will need everyone + their sponsors. Please let me know ASAP if you have any conflicts or if your sponsor cannot make it (not a problem) and we will arrange for a fill-in sponsor.
Please note, that our regularly scheduled RCIA session will also be that evening after 5 p.m. mass.
*UPCOMING DATES TO ADD TO YOUR CALENDAR*
First, please note that CANDIDATES are those who HAVE been baptized.
CATECHUMENS (soon to be "the Elect" after the Rite of Election this Sunday) are those who still NEED TO BE BAPTIZED.
Most of these events are for the catechumens only.
Saturday, March 7, 5 p.m. mass - CATECHUMENS/ELECT + SPONSORS ONLY - 1st Scrutiny
Wednesday, March 10, 6 p.m. mass - CATECHUMENS/ELECT + SPONSORS ONLY - Presentation of the Creed (about 30 minutes)
Saturday, March 14, 10:30 a.m. mass - CATECHUMENS/ELECT + SPONSORS ONLY - 2nd Scrutiny
Saturday, March 21, 5 p.m. mass - CATECHUMENS/ELECT + SPONSORS ONLY - 3rd Scrutiny
Saturday, April 3 (Easter Vigil) - Noon practice + rite - CATECHUMENS/ELECT, CANDIDATES & SPONSORS - We will review what will happen at the Easter Vigil when you officially join the Church, which will take place later that evening at ~7p.m. Practice should take about an hour and a half.
Please check your calendars ASAP and let me know if there are any conflicts.
Please also check with your sponsor to see if they can make it to these events, and please let me know as soon as possible if they cannot, so we have time to line up someone to fill in. Your spouse can also fill in for your sponsor if needed.
This is an exciting time! :)
Any questions? Let me know.
