Hello Everyone...
Bishop Powers has sent out a letter outlining the loosening up of some of the guidelines with regards to Mass. The two that directly affect us are as follows:
First...Bishop has indicated that we are able to resume visits to the homebound including bringing Communion to the homebound. If you know of someone who has not been to Mass in awhile and would be in need of receiving Holy Communion, Anointing of the Sick, or just a prayerful visit...please contact Kris in the office. Bishop is also encouraging us to train family members to take the Eucharist to loved ones even if they are not living in the same residence. If you would like to be trained as a Eucharistic Minister please call Kris in the office and leave your name and number. Depending on the number of people interested...I will try and set up a training session.
Secondly, we can begin to allow and encourage congregational singing WITH masks on. We will begin posting hymn numbers and announcing hymn numbers for those who have bought hymnals and are bringing them to Mass. Bishop is not allowing us to have and store hymnals in the church. We are talking about going back to a worship aid to help parishioners follow along with the Mass. These would have to be taken home and disposed of after Mass.
Bishop has given us numerous directives with regards to the Holy Week Masses. I will send out that information as we get closer to Holy Week.
I hope your Lent is very fruitful and draws you closer to the Lord. For those who have not returned to Mass...I hope you will prayerfully consider rejoining us. Holy Week would be an excellent time to return. But...also try and attend a daily Mass to gauge your readiness to come back to Sunday Mass.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
In the Service of Christ and His Church,
Dcn Jim
