Each week I search the best of the internet for sacred choral music that aligns with the Weekend's scripture readings and post several selections on our website at Choral Music Worth Hearing.
A few things this week:
I've compiled some Lenten Musical Resources for your ongoing listening pleasure on the webpage Weekend Music Selections. If you find yourself yearning for background music to any of your Lenten prayer time there may be something there for you. Check it out: https://pothe.org/music-selections
Choral Music Worth Hearing has some additional offerings this week: another setting of the Agnus Dei: Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us. A rendition of Surely He Has Borne Our Griefs by an amazing choir from Ghana. And in honor of the glory of our Lord transfigured proclaimed in the Gospel reading this Sunday - A Song of Christ's Glory - with words taken from Philippians 2 and arranged by Grayston Ives:
Christ Jesus was in the form of God, but he did not cling to equality with God. He emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, and was born in the likeness of man. Being found in human form, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even death on the cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him, and bestowed on him the name above every name. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow; in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Amen.
