Dear Clonmelians,
Thank you for your participation in the bishop’s pastoral visit to St. John’s this past weekend. Many of you came to the parish center after the Sunday Masses to greet Bishop Kemme, socialize, and enjoy homemade rolls and muffins. I am most grateful to Megan Klausmeyer and Kelly Belton for sharing their gifts of baking with us.
In his homily bishop mentioned how he always enjoys his visits here to St. John’s, but I think this may have been his favorite visit yet. He has been anxious to get back into the parishes and amongst his flock. We are only his 2nd parish in his 3-year schedule to visit each parish in the diocese for a pastoral visit and to share the diocesan pastoral plan. We have received great feedback from priests and staff at the diocesan offices, that Bishop Kemme seemed most pleased with his visit to Clonmel this weekend.
While he was here I was able to update him on our progress with the building project. He shared that he is quite pleased with the look of the exterior and is eager to see how we design the interior. Bishop expressed his support of our building project at each of our Masses. He also shared his belief that he sees the need to prepare for future generations of our parish and reminded us that this can happen through God’s grace and our personal sacrifice.
Feasibility Study
You should have received a letter in the mail inviting you to a personal interview with Betty Johnson, who is the consultant conducting our feasibility study and possible capital campaign. Those interviews take place at St. John’s in the Parish Center and are confidential. While Betty will share the information she gathers, she will not share the names of those who shared what feedback. I highly encourage each of you to participate in the process. This will help us to know what our parishioners want, what concerns they have, and what may need to be considered as we move forward. Please consider using the card sent to you to sign up for an interview.
Those who do not wish to meet personally with Betty may also schedule a telephone call with her or you may fill out a survey from her to offer your feedback in writing.
Building project update
The Building Committee is continuing to work with the schematic design of the church with our architect. This work takes many hours as we consider building materials from the perspective of structure and design. We have also worked a cry room into the design following a strong representative group’s request following the last town-hall meetings. The drawings posted in the parish center are NOT the most up-to-date. As new drawings come out it is our intention to post the updates in the parish center.
We request your prayers as we continue this work.
Fr. Joe
