Good Afternoon,
As we begin the third and final trimester of the year, I feel it is important to look back at all that we have accomplished. This has been anything but a regular year, but we have managed to make it a productive and successful one so far. In August, there were questions about us even being able to stay open all year and we have made it through with only minimal interruptions. This is a testament to the hard work of everyone, from the teachers and staff, to the students, to you the parents. Yet, we still have more to do.
One thing that has been mentioned to me by a number of people is that we have reached a point in the year where everything has become routine. Students have settled in at this point and no longer notice the changes to the day. Teachers don't struggle as much with planning and things have begun to feel normal. This is a good thing. It means that we have all stuck to what we said that we were going to do and now we just do it without thinking.
As we enter our last trimester, we begin looking to the future. There is no way to know exactly what next year will look like, but it is safe to say there will still be some protocols in place. We won't be able to just revert back to how things were done before. We will hopefully have some more leeway and tools to integrate the two, but some of these things that have become our new normal are here to stay for the foreseeable future. But we know that we can make it work now. We know that it doesn't need to derail the academic process and faith formation that we receive at school.
If the last year has taught me anything, it is that challenges provide opportunity. I feel that we have grown in a number of ways as a school this year, and I know that we can use these opportunities to continue to springboard our success. We have already begun looking at next year and the opportunities that we will have to make our light shine even brighter in the community and beyond. We will continue to be safe and to take every precaution that we can, but we will not back down or compromise what we know is right. We have shown that this virus doesn't need to halt or even slow progress. Now we are full steam ahead!
God Bless,
Mr. O'Neill
