HOW CAN WE HELP MOMS IN OUR COMMUNITY?
A small group of St. Monica's parishioners is vetting resources in our area that help moms. The intent is to publicize a good list of resources for moms themselves or for parishioners to help some mom they know. Do you know of a great resource that the group should consider including on this list? Have you observed, or experienced firsthand, needs of moms that you think could be helped by organizations or persons in our community?

JANUARY RECAP
PHILADELPHIA MARCH FOR LIFE 2021
On Saturday, January 23, 2021, over 1000 people gathered to pray and witness to the dignity and value of all human life, remembering over 1,000,000 abortions performed in Philadelphia since the legalization of abortion in 1973. The day began with Mass at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul and an interfaith prayer service on the Basilica grounds. The crowd then proceeded to march to Independence Hall, stopping along the way to witness at the abortion clinic at 777 Appletree St. The rally in front of Independence Hall featured several inspiring speakers, including Kathy Barnette.
Pro-life Union of Greater Philadelphia, sponsor of the event, regularly trains sidewalk counselors who pray at Philadelphia abortion facilities. They also run Guiding Star Mother's Home for women experiencing crisis pregnancies. Expanding their impact, Pro-Life Union is launching in April a Community-Based Culture of Life Initiative in the Frankford section of the city. Mom's Place Life Center will partner with Catholic Social Services and the Capuchin Friars at the Padre Pio Prayer Center to build a program that minimizes abortion risk in the area.

is a focused pro-life campaign with a vision to access God's power through prayer, fasting, and peaceful vigil to end abortion. Currently, it is running coincident with Lent from February 17 to March 28, 2021. This Lent 567 cities around the world will have 40 Days for Life Campaigns. Since 2007, 18,017 babies have been spared abortion, 109 abortion centers have closed, and 211 abortion workers have had a change of heart and quit their jobs. God is truly working among us!
Pro-Life Union of Greater Philadelphia Sidewalk Servant leader, Dr. Monique Ruberu, was privileged to report the FIRST BABY SAVED in the 2021 Worldwide Spring 40 Days for Life Campaign. "We are here for the mom and the baby," Gerry [a pro-life volunteer] said as he offered some literature to an abortion-vulnerable mom outside the Philadelphia clinic. "I know," the expectant mother replied.
"I just canceled my appointment!"
