Hey all,
A few things I neglected to mention last night at Confirmation:
Dress for the liturgy! It is a formal occasion. The color associated with Confirmation is RED. This is because the sacrament of Confirmation is a fulfillment of our Baptism wherein we are sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit. This is like a mini Pentecost when the Holy Spirit appeared to the Apostles as a fireball above their heads! (Read Acts Chapter 2 please!
https://bible.usccb.org/bible/acts/2). So the red color represents the fire of the Holy Spirit and if you can add a red piece to your outfit then great! If not, it's okay, it's not mandatory.
Here is what is mandatory:
Men, please wear dress pants, button up shirt, and a tie. A suit coat if you want but not necessary.
Ladies, please wear either a dress or nice slacks with a blouse. Remember that this is a church liturgy and not a prom or formal, modesty is important! You will be upfront with the Bishop and we should have all parts covered appropriately.
As a help, I shared some photos from 2019's confirmation class. If you need help or have questions let me know please!
After the liturgy we will have a formal photo with the bishop (not paparazzi style!) which will be shared with all families. After the large group photo you can take individual photos with your family and sponsors in front of the altar.
In closing, would you please answer the poll below? Last Confirmation we had a small reception with cupcakes and punch in the gym. What are your thoughts?
