We continue to work to fund our operating budget which supports each of our teams. This includes funding for sports equipment, extra COVID-19 related protective equipment required for health compliance, fees for all game officials, team travel expenses, and items for everyday sports use. We traditionally fund our sports and activities programs through a combination of fundraisers, sports fees, concessions, gate admission and memberships/sports passes.
However, several of these sources of revenue have been impacted by COVID-19. Fundraising events have been especially tricky this year, with many events being cancelled altogether. We have been unable to collect admission fees, confirm pre-purchased family passes, we have had no revenue from concession sales, and there are simply fewer numbers of fans that can be allowed into facilities. Given the uncertainty with fall sports, along with shortened seasons, we have opted to waive the typical sports fees associated with all the teams this year (Fall/Winter/Spring Sports).
Your participation and support of the Pepe's Pizza sale last fall allowed us to recapture some of the revenue lost from other fundraising sources like the WWCS Fair Booths. We are sure rooting you all on for your support of the Frozen Pasta & Meatballs Sale that is currently happening. The success of these fundraisers will be very impactful this year in helping to prepare our programs for competition! Please move those Pasta/Meatballs sales along and encourage a strong push from your Irish Athletes to get those order forms out to our local community!
Because of the continued uncertainly regarding the number of fans who will be allowed to attend sporting events for the rest of the year, we want to reach out to our season pass holders and offer two options for your 2020-21 season passes.
1. DONATE: If you'd like to convert the price of your season pass into a donation to the Booster Club so that we can continue to support these athletics programs, we will provide you with a tax-deductible charitable donation receipt.
Or
2.
CONVERT: You may choose to roll your pass over to the 2021-22 sports season.
Please email us your preference to either donate or to convert your season pass for this year. We will confirm your preference via a reply email.
At the moment we are working to provide online seasonal sports programs, along with live game streaming through the WWCS YouTube channel that will include special recognition of our generous sponsors who would normally be recognized on our programs, gym signs, and field signs. Look for more information about this soon
I hope this update answers a few of the questions circulating around what the Booster Club has been up to and how we are looking to function for the remainder of the sports seasons on the horizon. Please know that we greatly appreciate your support of WWCS athletics and activities. It is fully understood that it takes a village to keep our sports programs moving forward. I wish you and your families good health and please join me in saying: GO IRISH!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to
email us.
