A NOTE FROM YOUR PASTOR

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I’m baaaaaack!
For those who are new to the parish or have forgotten, Sts. Peter and Paul was my very first parish after my ordination in 2008.
I served here as Msgr. John Lyons’ Parochial Vicar for 2 years until my appointment as Diocesan Vocations Director in 2010.
I was a Priest-In Residence at St. Joseph Parish while working at the Chancery for 4 years.
Thereafter, I found myself appointed as its Pastor for another 4 years.
In 2018, I moved to Payson, AZ and became the Pastor of St. Philip the Apostle until my “return home” to Sts. Peter and Paul!
Whew! What a journey!!!!
In a sense, I never really left Sts. Peter and Paul as I maintained long lasting friendships with quite a few parishioners and, definitely, the staff.
When I was Vocations Director, I would find myself slipping quietly into the pews to hear mass after I celebrated masses for other parishes in many parts of our diocese.

I would still come to visit and pray in Our Lady’s chapel in our church during my visits to Tucson.
Now, I find myself as Pastor of a parish that I have always loved.
While I feel that I know this parish well, I do realize that over 11 years has passed since I was here and that so many changes have transpired.
In the next months, it will be many moments of discovery and learning.
To say that I am grateful to God for bringing me back to make a “full circle” of my Priestly life is a huge understatement.
It is my joy and a privilege to be given a chance to serve God and His people at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish.
May our Lord’s blessings continue to pour upon us for good health and safety!

Dear Parishioners,
Once again, thank you.
It has been great to have been your pastor for ten and three-quarters years at Ss. Peter & Paul. I appreciate your kind farewells. It is going to take me quite a while to read all the notes on the “SSPP Family Tree.” A lot of work went into writing the notes and making the tree, the shamrocks, and the crosses. I have never seen anything like it!
In a normal year, we would have had a going away party.
That is one of the disappointments of our current situation. I wish there had been an opportunity to see and to thank each of you in person.
Let us keep each other in prayer.

Lenten regulations:
ABSTINENCE FROM MEATS is to be observed by all Catholics 14 years old and older on Ash Wednesday and on all the Fridays of Lent.
FASTING is to be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday by all Catholics who are 18 years of age but not yet 59.
Those who are bound by this may take only one full meal. Two smaller meals are permitted if necessary to maintain strength according to one’s needs, but eating solid foods between meals is not permitted. Liquids between meals are allowed. [Some Catholics are not bound to fast on these days because of their health situation. For example, diabetics, pregnant and nursing mothers, as well as heavy laborers should eat enough to prevent physical danger to themselves or to others.]
Saints Peter and Paul Lenten schedule:
STATIONS OF THE CROSS:
7:00 p.m. every Friday during Lent; Benediction to follow.
On Good Friday, April 2nd, there will be Stations of the Cross at 3:00 p.m. AND 7:00 p.m.
CONFESSIONS:
Confessions will be heard outdoors on Saturdays,
at 10:30 a.m.- 11:30 a.m., and 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.
Additional times will be March 18th,19th, 25th, and 26th from 9:00 a.m.- 10:00 a.m. PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO Confessions on Holy Saturday, April 3rd.
PASSION (PALM) SUNDAY:
March 28th
Anticipated Mass March 27th, at 5:30 p.m.
Sunday Masses at 7, 9, and 11:00 a.m.; 1and 6 p.m.
Palms will be available at all doors of the Church and will be blessed during Mass.
HOLY THURSDAY:
April 1st: NO MORNING MASSES.
The only Mass allowed is the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7:00 p.m.
GOOD FRIDAY:
April 2nd
A DAY OF FASTING AND ABSTINENCE
NO MASSES PERMITTED. The Church opens at 8:00 a.m.
12:30 p.m. - Good Friday Liturgy: Readings, Holy Communion, and Veneration of the Cross.
Stations of the Cross - 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
March 7th, The Third Sunday of Lent.
Mass will be indoors in the Church.
Mass Times:
Saturday 5:30 p.m.
Sunday at 7:00,9:00,11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m.
Note: Weekday Masses will be in the Church starting on Monday, February 29th at 12:00 Noon.
