Solemnity of St. Joseph - March 19th
Celebrate the Foster Father of Jesus and Spouse to the Blessed Mother Mary. It's St. Joseph's Feast day Friday! Solemnities supersede fasting during Lent which means you can eat meat on the 19th.
According to the Code of Canon Law,
“Abstinence from meat, or from some other food as determined by the Episcopal Conference, is to be observed on all Fridays, unless a solemnity should fall on a Friday” (Can. 1251).
When you celebrate the life of St. Joseph by eating meat, be sure to offer a prayer to St. Joseph.
Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer,
Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
To you God entrusted his only Son;
in you Mary placed her trust;
with you Christ became man.
Blessed Joseph, to us too,
show yourself a father
and guide us in the path of life.
Obtain for us grace, mercy, and courage,
and defend us from every evil. Amen.
