Take a breath!
For us in "Church World", these weeks have been quite busy: Penance Services, Stations of the Cross, Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, & Easter Masses, just to name a few items on our schedule. Hopefully you had the opportunity to join us for some, or most of these liturgies. It was remarkable the difference in feeling from last year's Easter celebration, when we were not able to gather in large numbers due to the Covid shutdown. It almost feels like last year's Lent is finally over.
This week after Easter tends to be a little bit quieter for us at the Parish, and we could use a few quiet days to re-energize ourselves. This is also an opportunity to reflect on the Resurrection of Christ, and how the news spread of Jesus' resurrection. These Gospels that will we hear over the next few weeks will give us some insight into how people found out this glorious news of resurrection, and how more people came to believe in Jesus and His saving message of hope.
This communication of the message of salvation is "evangelization"; bringing the Gospel message of resurrection to the world. Evangelization is the responsibility of every single one of us. Now that we have become aware of this wonderous act of Jesus, we are called to bring this news through the work of our words and actions.
We need to become aware of the need for us to praise God and to bring this good news of salvation using every breath in our lungs. Instead of speaking words of hurt and criticism, let us be resolved to use the breath that God has given us to praise Him, and to tell others how wonderful He is!
