Holy Week is here!
Last Thursday we celebrated the most significant day in the history of all of creation, the Annunciation of The Lord. That day the Archangel Gabriel visited Mary to deliver an invitation and the whole world held its breath as it awaited her response. Nothing has been the same since. God became flesh through Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit and everything the Son set out to do comes to a climax this week. On Thursday our Lord will teach us how to worship and serve, on Friday he will show us his love, on Saturday night, the holiest of nights, he will crush everything which seeks to destroy, and on Sunday he will rise victorious over death, sin, and the Devil.
We will find an empty tomb, and we will meet an angel who has an invitation, this time for us. And God himself will hold his breath as he awaits our response.
This Holy Week our prayer for all of you will be that you become like the disciples who saw the empty tomb. We pray that you be amazed, fearful, a little confused, excited, and above all joyful because the Lord has truly risen. May you run to all those you love. May you share the good news that Jesus Christ has risen from the dead. He is victorious. He has defeated the Devil and all sin and even death. He loves us, he loves you. He awaits in those whom we are called to serve and most importantly in the Eucharist where he has become flesh and blood for us to eat and drink so that we might bring him out into the world where we proclaim his life, death, and resurrection so that all might come to know and love him.
Have a blessed Holy Week!
