Church Renovation Update
This is the first in a series of reports we will be publishing in our effort to keep parishioners updated on the church renovation. As you are aware, our church experienced serious water damage when two pipes in our fire suppression system broke on the west wall of the sanctuary. Due to this damage, we had to remove all the carpet since the water extended to all areas of the sanctuary and most of the vestibule hallways. The pews received water damage to the extent that refinishing them was going to cost as much as the replacement; therefore, they will be replaced. We have been able to donate 60% of the pews to a chapel near Dallas, a church in Mexico, and to many parishioners and others in the community. The church has and will continue to be treated for mold prevention.
The west wall had to be removed due to the water damage. Currently the west wall is being rebuilt with drywall and insulation. The sanctuary side of this wall was covered with acoustical insulation and a special acoustical fabric called Wisper Walls. The central and east arched walls are also covered in this material. A company that specializes in this fabric creation and installation will be reconstructing this damaged wall. During this time, the scaffolding will remain in place to accommodate the workers. This renovation process and the crafting of the new pews (which are made when ordered), is estimated to take 5-6 months. We appreciate your patience and your continued prayers.
The pictures below show the scaffolding that was installed on the west wall to allow workers to repair the damage and other areas in the church where renovation has begun.
