Dear St. Rose family,
Easter blessings to you! I continue to be in awe of the work our Lord has entrusted to us all. At the Easter Vigil, St. Rose welcomed five souls to the Catholic faith and also celebrated the First Communion of one more. Indeed, God is good and doing wondrous deeds in our midst.
Today I start a week-long retreat. Before I go, I want to leave you with an extremely powerful prayer tool. It is called the Discernment Examen and can help us become more deliberate in our prayer. It takes only five to ten minutes and goes like this:
- Relax in the presence of God; be aware of His loving presence in and all around you.
- Thank Him for everything He has loved into your life since yesterday’s examen.
- Beg to be given “the mind and heart of Christ,” to see reality as Jesus sees it.
- Reflect prayerfully over your day; go through the day with our Lord, checking the “we” (what you and Jesus experienced together) against the “I” (you alone).
- Renew in love your sorrow for ever disappointing or offending our Father and say to Him: “God, my Father, I offer Jesus, Your Son, to You who lives in me, and with Him I offer You myself and all creation, to please and praise You, to love and thank You, to expiate for my and everyone’s sins, to purify the good we do badly, and to make up for the good we should have done but failed.”
- Accept an invitation from our Lord to spend some time alone with Him in prayer tomorrow. Make it a date with a definite place and length of time. And accept any invitation He gives to repair any damage or behave better the next time we face the kind of situation which occasioned our fall.
- Pray the Our Father slowly.
I will pray for you all while I'm away. Please do the same for me.

- Tuesdays, 1-2:30pm
- Wednesdays, 10:00-12:00pm
- Fridays, 8:00-10am

CONFIRMATION AT 5:30 MASS NEXT SATURDAY, APRIL 17 :: LIMITED SPACE
We are thrilled to be hosting three of our neighboring parishes next weekend as our youth receive the sacrament of Confirmation from Archbishop Sample. However, this will make us very tight on space since confirmandi, their sponsors and parents will occupy both the church and our gym satellite. While we will have the cafeteria open as a second satellite, we kindly ask that other parishioners attend a Sunday Mass next weekend—even if you are already signed up for the 5:30 Mass on Saturday, April 17. Thank you for understanding and please pray for these youth as they continue their faith journeys!
SCHEDULE MODIFICATIONS WHILE FR. MATT IS AWAY
From April 10-16, Fr. Matt will be away for retreat. We are grateful to Fr. George and Fr. Steve for covering Masses in his absence. However, please note there will be no confessions before daily Mass nor Parking Lot Adoration April 9 (tonight) and 16.
