Hi there everyone! After a week off from my regular Friday Flocknote during Holy Week, we are back. I hope & pray that everyone had a great & blessed Easter! Remember that Easter is a season, not just a day, so let us continue to celebrate & rejoice in the new life of the Risen Lord. Let us rejoice & listen to the voice of God calling us to new life!
Here are some updates for this week...
1) Thank you, thank you, thank you! Thank you to all those who gave of themselves so generously & so abundantly to help us worship well during this past Holy Week & now in this Easter season. I won't start naming names because I know that I'd inadvertently forget someone, but from our servers, to our lectors, to our musicians & sacristans, to all who organized & decorated, all who prepared & planned, thank you, thank you, thank you! Thank you to all of you as well for all you do to make our parish the great parish that it is!
2) This weekend, the 2nd Sunday of Easter is also Divine Mercy Sunday. St. Faustina, the great Saint of mercy wrote, "He who knows how to forgive prepares for himself many graces from God. As often as I look upon the cross, so often will I forgive with all my heart." Forgiveness can often be a challenge, especially when the hurt is deep & sometimes it may take a while to forgive the hurt that others have caused but when we look upon the cross we remember the great call of Christ to work towards that forgiveness. Remember that even the desire in our hearts to forgive is a step taken towards forgiveness.
3) I am getting the 2nd round of my COVID vaccine tomorrow, so there is a possibility that you might not be see me this weekend. Fr. Klein & Fr. Clyde are prepared to take the Masses & if I am up to it I will take one as well. Otherwise, I'll return to the office next week.
Happy Easter!
Fr. John
