Dear Parishioners,
Tom Fennell
In my homilies, I've often mentioned our oldest parishioner, Tom Fennell. He was just called home to the Lord last Wednesday. Here's his
obituary. I celebrated his funeral Mass this morning. You could watch a recording
here.
Tom missed his 110th birthday by about 35 days. When I saw him last, his daughter brought him inside our church to receive the sacraments. Tom was eager to go home to the Lord even though there wasn't anything medically wrong. May all of us have a great desire to go home to Heaven and say yes to Jesus who is the Way to Heaven.
J&J Vaccine
I just read
here that NJ has paused the J&J vaccine because of blood clot concerns.
Pandemic Status
NJ has the second highest number of new cases per 100K, but it looks like Minnesota will pass us tomorrow.
Ocean County has dropped to 7th place among NJ's 21 counties.
It seems to me that NJ's cases have been trending down for the last week. Let's pray this continues. I'm hoping that we won't need as many restrictions as May and June arrive. Until then, please continue to be prudent even as we open up our parish and society more and more.
God love you,
Fr. Jim
