Hello, Faith-Filled Families!
I hope you had a joyous Easter!
God gave each of us unique skill sets and a recent experience helped me realize my limitations! Our elliptical machine, which is used almost daily, gave out on us. The drive belt is likely broken. I thought, "We have the owner's manual. We have tools. Let's see if we can fix it!" It seemed fairly straightforward but after an hour of frustration trying to access the inner works (and a few bad words) we decided we were not equipped to do the job. We needed help. In the meantime we are enjoying the beautiful weather as we take daily walks!
In this Sunday's Gospel reading Jesus calls His disciples to a task for which they are, at the time, not equipped. He promises to send a helper, the Holy Spirit, to give them the words to preach, the power to heal and step by step instructions as they follow His command.
Our heavenly Father created us to need Him and rely on His power and guidance. Going through our days without Him is like trying to fix an elliptical without instructions or tools! Our heavenly Father gives us the same Spirit He sent the disciples. The challenge is to tune into it, which is difficult in our non stop, constant-chatter society.
In this week's lesson our students will learn that God calls us to do His work and equips us with the tools and instructions to complete it. They will learn about the Holy Spirit and how it is available to us always. It is so important for our children to learn that help is just a prayer away.
There are 4 options for activities so encourage your child to do one that will help them remember that God's Spirit is them and to turn to Him with all needs, great and small.
May God bless the time you spend sharing faith with your family!
