Be Holy and Lead Well
Beloved: First of all, I ask that supplications, prayers, petitions, and thanksgivings be offered for everyone, for kings and for all in authority, that we may lead a quiet and tranquil life in all devotion and dignity. (2 Timothy 2:1-2)
Most of us don’t consider ourselves as a “leader” but we are placed in leadership position every day at different levels. As Christians, we are called daily to lead a life of righteousness and truth. Your interaction with others has a/an direct/indirect effect on the outcome of your surroundings. The way you present yourself, the way you make decisions, the language that you use, and the moral compass that you use to guide your life …. will reflect what you believe. John J. Pershing, a U.S. Army general in World War I, said, "A competent leader can get efficient service from poor troops, while on the contrary an incapable leader can demoralize the best of troops." So what kind of leader are you? St. Paul said, “brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” (Philippians 4:8) Additionally, Matthew 18:6 said, “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” Let us pray for one another and especially for spiritual/civil leaders, at different level, of all nations that we are all lead a quiet and tranquil life in all devotion and dignity.
Prayer for Civil Authority
Lord Jesus Christ, King of the universe, look with mercy on those who rule over us. Grant to our President and his administration the grace to know and do Your Will. Let them serve all their subjects in truth and righteousness. Inspire our Congressmen with the courage to make laws for the good of all rather than the few. Give our Judges Your Spirit of wisdom and understanding that they may divine the truth and impartially administer the law. And let all the people pitch in to make our way of government continue to work. Amen.
Peace in Christ,
