Hello, Everyone!
Earth Worms ...
What can a critter do with no eyes or ears?
What does it eat?
How does it help us & our earth?
A couple of books on the subject enlightened us.
Worms eat dirt - that's how soil gets mixed up.
After eating dirt, the worm has to ....,( I'll let your child tell you!). That fertilizes the soil.
They dig tunnels - that's how worms help to loosen the dirt.
We built Earth Worm Farms.
Children dug for Earth Worms.
Children looked for signs of activity on the Earth Farm every day.
Merritt brought several BIG night crawlers to liven things upon the Worm Farm.
But there just wasn't enough activity to hold our interest!
We finally dumped the worms - farm & all onto a large tray.
Each child had a chance to watch the worms squirm their way across the dirt.
When we went outside to play, the worms were set free!
And yes, we backed a worm snack!
Mrs. A & I got some strange looks when we announced that we would have a worm snack on Thursday. "Are we gonna eat worms?", someone asked.
Each child was invited to form a bread worm with a portion of prepackaged pizza crust. At snack time everyone declared: These worms taste yummy!
Reading buddies read books with our little people.
And of course we took advantage of the outdoors to combat wildness!
Thank you for meeting with me for Parent Teacher conferences this week.
Sharing about challenges & progress in children's growth is important.
And thank you for "sharing" a few recyclables with our class.
We have plenty of things to sort through to help us learn about recycling!
Next week's goal is to celebrate Earth & helping Earth stay beautiful!
Thank you for sending your child in appropriate clothing! Spring is here. But my goodness, temperatures are not warm enough to fully enjoy the season yet!
Mrs. A & I are looking forward to more fun in learning with your child!
