John 6:35-40
“For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him on the last day.” (John 6:40)
The entire Easer season is a celebration of Jesus’ promise to raise us up on the last day. Our faith is not in vain. The resurrection is not “pie in the sky” or a Hollywood fairy tale. It is a promise of new life, where death will no longer cast its long and fearful shadow over humanity. Most of all, it is a promise of being united with the Creator who first gave us life in this world and now extends it to the next.
How strong is your faith in the resurrection? Have you ever heard people ridicule the idea of the resurrection? How do you respond? Take some time to reflect on family and friends who have died and gone to their eternal rest. Invoke them by name. Do you believe you will one day be reunited with them by means of the resurrection?
