... which means that we'll honor these saints at Mass this afternoon, and have tasty Korean food this evening, following 5:15pm mass.
The Cornell Catholic Community, like many of you, was saddened to hear about racist and discriminatory actions and words which have happened and have been said to students by other students in recent weeks. We want to emphasize that our community is a place for all to feel welcome, and that we are called to extend Christ's love to each other. As the US Council of Bishops writes, at the founding of a committee against racism:"Racism has rightly been called America's original sin. It remains a blot on our national life and continues to cause acts and attitudes of hatred, as recent events have made evident. The need to condemn, and combat, the demonic ideologies of white supremacy, neo-Nazism and racism has become especially urgent at this time. Our efforts must be constantly led and accompanied by prayer - but they must also include concrete action." In our community, we hope that you will reach out to students who are hurting, and act to with confidence in standing up to injustice that you encounter.
We will open our office, G19, as a meeting place
Tomorrow, Thursday, at 5pm, to be a space to pray, discuss, or express how you are feeling, in a simple community gathering. Please feel free to come by, even if only to show support to fellow students. Feel free to extend a welcome beyond the Catholic Community. For more info, email Anna (amo82).
