Adoration of the Risen Lord!
As mentioned in the video, we have the incredible opportunity to spend time with the Risen Lord in the Eucharist every Thursday afternoon (12:00 PM - 5:15 PM) and Friday morning (6:30 AM - 12:00 PM), but I don't think much of the parish knows about it...
So now you know! Eucharistic Adoration is our chance to spend time adoring Our Lord Jesus, truly present in the Sacred Host. It is meant to be an extension of that wondrous moment at the Mass where the priest shows the people the host that has just become the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ; our chance to spend time with the same Jesus who rose on Easter morning!
At 12:00 PM on Thursdays and 6:30 AM on Fridays, a Deacon places a host into the monstrance on the altar, where Our Lord in that host is exposed and waiting for people to come spend time with Him, adoring His loving presence among us. This lasts until benediction (a special blessing with that host that has been adored) at 5:15 PM on Thursdays and 12:00 PM on Fridays.
It is imperative that during the time that the host is exposed on the altar, Our Lord is never left alone and abandoned, but always has at least two people signed up and committed to spend time with Him. Sadly, as I write this, He is exposed in the Church with only one person faithfully coming to adore at this hour...in a parish of a few thousand people.
Committing to a weekly hour of adoration is one of the most beneficial things a person can do for their spiritual growth. Imagine what such a routine can do to transform your relationship with God! Imagine how regular visits with your children can help them to develop their prayer lives!
So.....
Below you can sign up for half hour slots of adoration, but you can sign up for two consecutive slots if you wish to do a full hour. This will be a weekly commitment, and we will ask that you find people to replace you those weeks you cannot make it. But don't be scared to commit! Any time spent with the Lord is time well spent!
