We learned about how venial sin is like a little cut in the rope of our phone line to God and over time we hear Him less & less and can end up in mortal sin which cuts the phone line completely.
Going to the Sacrament of Reconciliation repairs that connection & heals our soul...God desires to give us all this great mercy & to strengthen our souls with His grace through the Sacraments so we can resist temptations to sin and to heal us and restore our relationship with Him. He is quick to forgive but we need to do our part & try...try to not let go or cut off the phone line...
A saint is a sinner who keeps trying...one that does not give up...one that chooses to believe & opens their heart to receive the graces needed to live a holy life...we are all dependent on grace & a relationship with God...
I encourage you all as families, if you have not gone to reconciliation in a while, to go get a nice bath for your soul...St. Padre Pio says even an empty room gets dusty after a week;-)
Also, because the Sacrament of Reconciliation is such an important healing Sacrament, the top exorcist in Rome (Fr. Gabriel Amorth) said one confession is more powerful than 100 exorcisms...I think that says a lot.
