Dear Assumption West CCE Family,
We have come to the end our year with CCE at St. Mary's Church of the Assumption. I want to say what a pleasure it has been having each and everyone involved in this important parish program.
There were a lot of unknowns going into this school year with the pandemic situation. I am proud of the way we have fought through all that and persevered this year. We were able to have in-person classes for CCE all year long - truly a blessing.
Thank you to everyone for doing your part in wearing masks, maintaining social distance, and informing us when you could not attend classes.
Tonight is our last class for the 2020-2021 year. This will be my last school night as Director of Religious Education at Assumption Parish. Mrs. Karen Tamayo-Rodarte will be taking my place. Karen is a lifelong member of Assumption Parish and is married with two young kids of her own. You may have seen her around the last few weeks. Stop by and say hi and introduce yourself!
As for me, I will continue to be a part of CCE helping teach on Wednesday nights, and of course, helping Karen get acclimated to her new role.
Additionally, JJ and I will be taking the reigns on the Youth Program here at Assumption Parish. We are currently working through plans with Fr. Timothy that include periodic youth events both locally and remote.
We have started some of this through our excursions to DCYC, Purgatory Ski Trip, Carlsbad and Enchanted Rock. We hope to continue to do these things in addition to things like Lone Star Steubenville, March Madness 3 on 3 basketball tournaments, swim parties, putt putt outings and so on. These events will have a spiritual dynamic to them as well thorough speakers, devotionals and so on.
Please pray for us on this new adventure that we plan and execute a fun and fulfilling youth program for our kids.
In closing, I have had the pleasure to serve your families as DRE for the last 6 school years. I enjoy seeing the kids running through the halls and getting to know their names and a little bit about them. I have enjoyed working with and assisting you all in your child's faith formation and sacramental preparation. I am thankful to all the teachers and aides throughout the year who have contributed their time and talent to this program. These relationships I just described are the things I will miss the most about being DRE!

Estimada Familia de Asunción West CCE,
Hemos llegado a fin de año con CCE. Quiero decir qué fue un placer tener a todos y cada uno involucrados en este importante programa parroquial.
Había muchas cosas desconocidas entrando en este año escolar con la situación pandémica. Estoy orgulloso de la forma en que hemos luchado a través de todo eso y perseverado este año. Pudimos tener clases en persona para CCE durante todo el año- realmente una bendición.
Gracias a todos por hacer su parte en el uso de máscaras, mantener la distancia social, e informarnos cuando no podía asistir a clases.
Esta noche es nuestra última clase para el año 2020-2021. Esta será mi última noche escolar como Directora de Educación Religiosa en la Parroquia de la Asunción. Karen Tamayo-Rodarte ocupará mi lugar. Karen es miembro de toda la vida de Assumption Parish y está casada con dos hijos pequeños. Puede que la hayas visto en las últimas semanas. ¡Pasa y saluda y preséntate!
En cuanto a mí, seguiré siendo parte de CCE ayudando a enseñar los miércoles por la noche, y por supuesto, ayudando a Karen a aclimatarse a su nuevo papel.
Además, JJ y yo tomaremos las riendas del Programa de La Juventud aquí en la Parroquia de la Asunción. Actualmente estamos trabajando a través de planes con el P. Timothy que incluyen eventos juveniles periódicos tanto locales como remotos.
Hemos comenzado parte de esto a través de nuestras excursiones a DCYC, Purgatory Ski Trip, Carlsbad y Enchanted Rock. Esperamos seguir haciendo estas cosas además de cosas como Lone Star Steubenville, March Madness 3 en 3 torneos de baloncesto, fiestas de natación, putt putt salidas y así sucesivamente. Estos acontecimientos tendrán una dinámica espiritual para ellos, así como oradores minuciosos, devocionales, etc.
Por favor, oren por nosotros en esta nueva aventura que planeamos y ejecutamos un divertido y satisfactorio programa juvenil para nuestros hijos.
Para terminar, he tenido el placer de servir a sus familias como DRE durante los últimos 6 años escolares. Me gusta ver a los niños corriendo por los pasillos y conociendo sus nombres y un poco sobre ellos. He disfrutado trabajando y ayudándolos a todos en la formación de la fe y la preparación sacramental de su hijo. Estoy agradecida a todos los maestros y ayudantes durante todo el año que han contribuido con su tiempo y talento a este programa. Estas relaciones que acabo de describir son las cosas que más extrañaré de ser DRE!
