What's New: Last week, the Minnesota Department of Education “strongly encouraged” all middle schools to implement a Student COVID-19 Testing Program.
Why It's Important: Throughout this school year, our Pandemic Preparedness & Response Plan (PPRP) and the School Building Reopening Committee (SBRC) have developed procedures and protocols, informed by the guidance disseminated by the CDC, MDH, and MDE. While OLP will not be implementing an on-site student testing program at this time, we do highly encourage all middle school students, especially those participating in athletics and other organized activities, to get tested on a bi-weekly basis. Minnesota is currently experiencing a high circulation of variants of COVID-19, specifically with increased cases concentrated among middle and high school students. With only five weeks left in this school year, now is not the time to let up. Tests are free, can be conducted at home, and all results are kept confidential.
