He made no distinction between us and them...(From Acts 15:7-21)
Peter says what we all need to hear in today’s America. There is too much of an “us vs them” philosophy these days. Whether it’s on race, politics, class distinction, community differences, sexual orientation, gender, citizenship status, economic policies, or in the pointless arguing we see in the local Letters to the Editor...it’s just this “us vs them” mentality. God makes no distinction, but loves us ALL! So, why do we make distinction? Has division healed wounds? Has civil war created peace? Have walls ever united God’s people? Have religious disputes ever brought people closer to being the one Body of Christ? Has seeing someone as “other” or as an “enemy” brought the world joy and harmony? God doesn’t divide, so we shouldn’t either! Let us love ALL and be united in our shared humanity and our shared eternal destiny in Heaven! Amen!
