Dear Crusader Families,
Once again, we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our Crusader Community. Tuesday's Day of Giving was a true celebration. Not only was it a day filled with great philanthropic gifts, but it was a day that reminded us of the things that make Christ the Redeemer Catholic School so special.
Your patience with our Covid-19 protocols does not go unrecognized. As stated in our March 11 Chronicle, we have been directed by the Chancery Office to continue with our protocols for the remainder of this school year. We know many of you have questions about what things will look like upon our return to school in the fall. While masks will still be optional, we are waiting to hear from the Chancery's office on exactly what the minimum requirements will be for all Archdiocesan schools. It is our intent to follow the minimum requirements. We hope to have these minimum requirements made available to us by the end of the month. Again, we thank you for your patience and your commitment to the health and safety of our entire community.
In other Covid-19 related news, we have encouraged, yet not required, our faculty and staff to get vaccinated. We also understand that vaccinations will be made available to school-aged children in the coming months. While we will not require Covid-19 vaccinations for our students, we do encourage eligible members of our school community to vaccinate. Due to these developments, coupled with our belief that students learn best when on campus, we will not be providing a VCC option for the 2021-2022 school year. With that said, CtR Parish is excited to partner with Harris County Public Health and host a Vaccination Day from 8 am-3 pm on Saturday, May 15 in the Parish Hall. Officials will administer the Moderna vaccine at no cost for all individuals ages 16 and up. We’ll also host a follow-up session four weeks later for the second dose. On Tuesday, we witnessed our purpose of fostering academic excellence with a love of God and neighbor that inspires and challenges our children to become leaders who proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and action. Especially in ACTION! Our Crusaders were Christ for one another. When a fellow student was upset that they had forgotten their gift, we watched other students share what they had brought so they each could participate. Homerooms who set a goal of 100% participation, shared dollar bills and loose change from backpacks and wallets so that each person was able to give to their school and to be part of furthering our mission and purpose.
It was a gift to witness these acts of love, kindness, and inclusion. On our Day of Giving our community gave with GREAT love showing we are Crusader Strong!

MUFFINS WITH MOM
We want to show how much we appreciate our moms! In addition to a special blessing at next week's mass, we will have a virtual "Muffins with Mom"
Similar to our "Virtual Donuts with Dad" we invite you to take one morning next week to celebrate our moms and how amazing they are by having muffins (or any breakfast treat) with them! We have created some signs for you to print and snap a photo to share with us. Don’t forget to share on social media and tag us and/or email photos@ctrschool.com.

To help manage the flow of traffic so as to not overwhelm the officials from Harris County Public Health who will be administering the vaccine, we encourage you to sign-up in advance for your choice of your desired time slot. If you can't commit to a time just yet, don't let that deter you from coming. Walk-ins are also welcome.
Pope Francis emphasized the importance of considering anti-COVID vaccination as a “universal common good.” And as a reminder, the Holy Father and Cardinal DiNardo have stated that receiving the vaccination is morally ethical. If your child meets the following criteria, they are eligible for enrollment in CTR's sacrament preparation program for the 2021-2022 catechetical year:

- Baptized Catholic
- At least 7 years old and in 2nd grade by the beginning of the 2021-2022 year
- Satisfactory enrollment in a Catholic school or a religious education program for the 2020-2021 school year.
Information and Registration Meetings for sacrament preparation will be held May 18, and May 20 at 7 pm in the Parish Hall. Attendance at one meeting is required for sacrament preparation registration for the 2021-2022 catechetical year.
You will be able to register your child during the meeting. A completed registration packet includes the registration form (given during the meeting), a copy of the child's baptismal certificate, and a $50 materials fee.

We had a wonderful sports banquet event last week recognizing all athletes in Spring Sports 2021. We have grown and maintained a real presence in the GHCAA.

Book Fair
Thank you to everyone who supported our book fair this past week. It was so exciting to have some normalcy in the library once again. The kids loved shopping! Remember, our online book fair runs through tomorrow, Friday, May 7th. If you have any remaining funds on your eWallet you can use this towards online purchases or save for the fall book fair. Be sure to use the CtRCS Bookfair link for all online sales so our school gets the credit.
A special note of thanks for your patience and understanding with Scholastic's EWallet. It was new and definitely presented some technical issues. It was a learning curve for us all, and we will work with Scholastic over the next few months and are confident that we will be able to make the process much smoother in the fall when the book fair once again returns.
Library Books
All library books will be due no later than due May 20. Our last week to check out library books will be the week of May 10th. If your student has a missing or overdue book, please begin looking in cars, bedrooms, bookshelves, closets, and even grandparents' homes and cars. Books tend to hide in many places.
A Very Special Thank You for Teachers This Year
Teachers are now included by the CDC as Frontline Essential Workers. This is not a surprise for us as parents because we have always considered teachers as essential and extremely important for the educational development of our children. This year we want to express a very special thanks to teachers for their dedication to teaching our kids while facing the challenges of the pandemic.
On a personal note, I would like to apologize to the many teachers of my youth who put their heart and soul into trying to maintain order with me sitting in their classrooms. (READ ON)
