Dear Parishioners,
Parish Welcome Back Plan
I offer my first impressions here. We're already doing some of the things they suggested. There's plenty I didn't even think about. Maybe we should have a parish picnic to celebrate reopening. I do plan to write at least one snail mail letter to parishioners, but perhaps I should write a few this year. November would be a great month to remember those who have died during the pandemic.
Plummeting Numbers
NJ has dropped to 13th place for daily new cases per 100K at COVIDActNow.org. NJ has the lowest infection rate at 0.72. That means our new cases are going down faster than any other state. Most NJ counties are orange. Only two are red.
Even though the trend looks great, Governor Murphy still wants us to wear masks indoors and maintain six feet apart. Let's continue to ask the Blessed Mother to intercede for an end to the pandemic by praying the rosary daily.
To Be Fully Vaccinated
I will get my 2nd shot tomorrow and become fully vaccinated on May 20th which is about 50 years after God joined my soul to my body (one cell at the time). Nine months after that I was born.
Confirmation
Most of our 8th graders were confirmed yesterday. May the Holy Spirit continue to enliven them and their families. You can view the confirmations and recordings of all our livestreams at our YouTube channel:
Knights of Columbus
Last night, we had a lively joint meeting of our three Knights of Columbus councils. It was the largest gathering of men I've experienced since the lockdown. Hearing all the male voices as we prayed the Our Father together inspired me with hope for our Knights and the men of our parish.
God love you,
Fr. Jim
