Hello everyone! We are quickly approaching the end of the year, which means we are busier than usual wrapping everything up. Next week is the spring concert on Wednesday. This will be posted for everyone to see.
Next week you will also see a couple of math/reading activity books coming home. These are great options to continue preparing/practicing for 2nd grade. If you have any questions on these, please let me know.
Mother's Day gifts are coming home today. The kids are very excited to give gifts to their moms, but are worried that it won't be a surprise since they have it today instead of Sunday. I told them it would be okay either way! They worked hard on their gifts to you and we hope you enjoy them!
Next week we will be working on...
Reading- Our new spelling words will be keep, peanut, happen, rust, grip, plot, pinch, price, eight, and other. Our new stories will be "Pete Is No Spy" (open long vowels), "Brent's Plants" (preconsonantal nasal blends), and "Will and Bill Fish" (floss rule). I have been so impressed with how well we are reading here in first grade! Please keep up the practicing at home. It really makes such a positive difference on the kids!
Math- We will be using these next couple of weeks to review material we have learned throughout the year. We will be really focused on being more automatic with simple addition and subtraction facts. This will help continue to build that foundation they will need as they progress to next year.
Social Studies- We will wrap up social studies next week! We are going to make a geography craftivity, review, and test. The students have been enjoying learning more about their planet, continent, country, state, and town. They have been asking great questions that have sparked interesting conversations.
Have a great weekend and Happy Mother's Day!
