Dear Parishioners,
Happy Easter!!! Alleluia!
Christ is Risen!
He is risen indeed. Alleluia!
Today is the 6th Sunday of Easter
The readings are about how we are called keep the new commandment of Jesus to "Love one another as I have loved you." Our faith is ultimately a response of Gratitude when we realize the depth of God's Love for humanity.
If we take this seriously, this new commandment of Jesus is much more challenging and demanding than the 10 given to Moses. This commandment requires a life long response of loving both the sinner and the saint, the deserving and the undeserving, the wealthy and the poor, the popular and the outcast.
As the Second Reading says "In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins."
The word Eucharist is Greek for thanksgiving. That is why we celebrate the Eucharist, to give thanks to God for the love he has show in sending his only begotten Son as our Saviour. It is also another sign of God's Love for us as we are privileged to become one with Jesus in the reception of Holy Communion.
The only appropriate response is to Love God with a grateful heart and strive to love one another as Jesus has loved us.
Our faith is about having a relationship with God and then letting that relationship transform us into the living Body of Christ and then loving one another as Jesus Christ in our world.
Jesus, I Trust in You
Let us continue to pray for each other and with each other as we share the message of God's Divine Mercy during the Easter Season.
HAPPY EASTER!!!
May God bless you and your families,
Fr. Gerard Monaghan
