Bishop Robert Barron: He is Risen!
What will our resurrected bodies be like?
At each Mass, we Christians affirm our belief in “the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.”
We believe not only in Jesus’ Resurrection, but in the resurrection of our own bodies at the end of time.
But what will this be like? What form will our bodies take?

Fr. Godfrey's Homily
Easter 06B 2021
St. Benedict Cathedral
Nice enough and smart, he seemed to be an easy-going classmate. I remember thinking I should be his friend. On a Saturday, I rode my bike to his house. He decided we were going to play “Army” in the field across from his house. But the field was dirty. There were bugs. After a little while, I asked if maybe we could just ride our bikes. No; it was Army or nothing. And that’s probably why I don’t remember going to his house again. His friends would do what he said.
What seems unreasonable for a fourth grader is exactly the sentence uttered by Jesus: You are my friends if you do what I command you. In the midst of all these lessons at the Last Supper, Jesus makes that remarkable demand. Can you imagine the reaction of the apostles? You are my friends if you do what I command you.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, our relationship with Jesus is more complex than fourth grade buddies. Yet, He simply commands us to do what we might rightly always want to do: love one another. A pure heart always loves, wants what’s best, is always generous. Like a generous, sacrificing, selfless mother, a pure heart always loves. And when we are generous, sacrificing, and selfless, then we are like Christ. When we always love, then we remain in His love and our joy is complete. Who in our lives isn’t receiving the genuine love that Christ would offer? Will we do what He commands us to do?
